The forces of globalization, technological change and deregulation have made change management an integral part of managing business today. Over the years, the discipline of change management has evolved from a set of practical descriptive and prescriptive tools to models and frameworks based on theory and empirical research. Recent research in the related disciplines of organizational behavior and organization theory provides a sophisticated understanding of change issues and how to manage them more importantly, research in organization theory has also highlighted the cost and risks associated with change.
