Abstract
The paper argues that the extant theories are too broad to explain certain attributes of the inter nationalization process adopted by emerging economy firms. It seeks to strengthen the existing theories by suggesting directions for new theorization in the context of internationalization of firms from emerging economies such as India, The author reviews the relevant theoretical literature on the inter national expansion of firms in general and by TMNCs in particular.
