"Cognitive Chasms" A Grounded Theory of GenAI Adoption

In an event that can be considered as the veritable Cambrian explosion in the world of computing, the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has undergone unprecedented evolution and exponential growth since Nov 2022. This has been made possible mainly by introducing Generative AI technologies, or “GenAI,” which have rapidly proliferated via easy-to-use public-domain tools. As opposed to the previous “predictive AI,” which could only be used for predicting the probabilities for new data, GenAI uses advanced computational techniques to “generate” new data such as text, audio, images, and videos.
