Abstract
The overarching aim of this study is to highlight the diverse experiences of women family members involved in full-time formal roles in Indian family businesses. Research has highlighted
the relatively unexplored, yet important aspect of women family members’ participation in their family businesses (Cole, 1997; Lyman et al., 1991). Though researchers have been interested in
the subject of women’s involvement in family-owned businesses since the early 1980’s, off late, practitioners and general media have also been evincing greater interest in the topic (Campopiano et al., 2017) as diversity, equity and inclusion are mandated goals for corporates, professional communities and governments all around the world. This study addresses an acknowledged gap in
the literature on women family members’ experiences in Indian family businesses (Bağış et al., 2022), while also responding to a call for more research on women’s involvement in family firms (Campopiano et al., 2017)
